Where were you born and what influenced you the most there?

I was born in Oberhausen, in the middle of the Ruhr region - I was influenced by the open and honest way I interact with each other.

Where do you currently live and what brought you there?

Now I live even deeper in the Ruhr area. I just like it here, but you can only really say that if you were born here and understand the mentality. My work means I travel a lot and at home I can always switch off.

What is your great passion and what drives you?

My biggest passion is definitely skateboarding. I spend half my life doing it now and that won't change. Shortly after comes photography. Both have had a very strong influence and shape on my life.

What do you like to do with your free time when you're not pursuing your passion?

Mainly it's just or relates to skateboarding and photography. I try to stay creative by creating collages or zines from my photos. And when I have some free time I try to go skateboarding as often as I can.

How long have you been skating/photographing and what inspired you to do it?

I've been skating for 15 years now. Skateboarding is just something special, it's difficult to convey what I feel to people who don't relate to it. It means freedom and not having to follow certain rules - I also got into photography through skateboarding. Every day I was out with a big group of guys, we always went to different cities to skate new spots. At some point it came to the point that I wanted to capture these moments and took a camera with me. So one thing led to another.

What is your favorite trick/favorite motif and why?

BS Flip and interesting people.

What is your favorite spot and what makes it special?

I really like skating in Barcelona at the “Parallel”. The ground is perfect, there are all kinds of obstacles and the atmosphere on site is always very pleasant despite the many skaters or maybe because of it.
